#Flashback – Sound Factory Vibes πΆπΈ
Here’s a rare behind-the-scenes moment from my days running one of the most legendary house clubs in history—Sound Factory.
Big shoutout to my co-worker Regla, who caught me mid-count in this iconic shot. Yep… that’s me, surrounded by stacks of cash, X-ing and Z-ing registers, balancing drawers, handling payouts, and counting close to $60,000 at 5 a.m. every Saturday night/Sunday morning.
If you’ve ever tried counting anything after 4 a.m., you know it’s basically a sleep-inducing sport. Maybe that’s why they say counting sheep helps you fall asleep… because the process alone can knock you out. But in the club game, sleepiness wasn’t an option.
Every single stack of $1s, $5s, $10s, $20s, $50s, and $100s had to be perfectly aligned and counted. And if your tired brain slipped up? You started all over again.
And don’t even get me started on when your totals didn’t match the registers—then it was back to square one, stack by stack, double-checking every bill. Maybe that’s why they call it accounting—or maybe just to keep DJs from thinking it’s all fun and games! π€£
Running Sound Factory wasn’t just about the numbers—it was about being part of a movement. Every note of house music, every crowd that lost themselves on the dance floor, every late-night laugh behind the bar—it was a history-making experience I’m proud to have been a part of.
Let this little #Flashback inspire you: whether you’re counting bills, beats, or memories, the magic happens when passion meets perseverance.
