I heard this House Music version and went crazy on the dancefloor!
If you loved the movie Sinners, then you already know that "I Lied to You" is one of its most powerful moments.
Written by Raphael Saadiq with director Ryan Coogler and composer Ludwig GΓΆransson, the song is performed in the film by Miles Caton as Sammie.
The song is a heartfelt confession from Sammie to his father.
As a child, he was given a Bible and expected to follow a religious path. Instead, he fell in love with the blues.
When he sings, "I lied to you," he's finally telling the truth about who he really is. The blues isn't just music to him—it's part of his soul and his family's history.
Miles Caton's powerful performance, mixed with soul, blues, and gospel, helped make this song one of the most unforgettable moments in Sinners.
Now comes the fun part.
This house music remix brings back the same emotions I felt when I first heard the song in the theater, but with an energetic beat that makes it impossible not to move.
It keeps the heart of the original while giving house music lovers something incredible to dance to.
LYRICS:
Somethin' I been wanting to tell you for a long time
It might hurt you, hope you don't lose your mind
Well, I was just a boy, 'bout eight years old
You threw me a Bible on that Mississippi road
See, I love ya, papa, you did all you could do
They say the truth hurts, so I lie to you
Yes, I lied to you, I love the blues
Mm-hm-mm
Oh-oh-oh, mm-hm-mm (hey!)
Somebody take me in your arms tonight, well, alright
Somebody take me in your arms tonight, ay, yeah
Somebody take me in your arms tonight
Mm-hm-mm
Oh-oh-oh, mm-hm-mm
Somebody take me in your arms tonight (hey), alright
Somebody take me in your arms tonight, oh (hey)
Somebody take me (hey)
No shit
Country boy
Same war
I hope, I hope, I hope
I hope you can stand it, stand it all (hey, hey, hey, hey, hey)

Known as the haunting, powerful voice behind major electronic dance hits like "Where You Are" with John Summit and "In My Arms" with Illenium, the tour marks a bold sonic and emotional shift for the artist.
Rather than sticking strictly to her high-energy EDM roots, she is performing a mix of those crowd-favorite collaborations alongside deeply personal, stripped-back new music from her debut solo album, DARK.
The Vision Behind the Tour
The tour represents a deliberate reinvention for the Liverpool-born artist. While her previous live sets relied heavily on festival club energy, The Dark Tour explores a more raw, vulnerable, and introspective sound. She playfully refers to this darker era as "sad bitch music"—songs that dive headfirst into heavy emotions like grief, heartbreak, and resilience, aiming to make listeners feel less alone in their struggles.
Brooklyn Steel is a popular 1,800-capacity live music and multi-purpose event venue located in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Housed in a former steel manufacturing plant at 319 Frost Street, it gets its name and distinct industrial aesthetic from the repurposed steel used throughout the building.
Body & SOUL was brought to life in 1996 by FranΓ§ois K. and John Davis, it started as the Sunday afternoon party that took place at Club Vinyl in Manhattan’s Tribeca area.
It soon became one of New York City’s most revered weekly parties. The three DJs, Danny Krivit, Joaquin ‘Joe’ Claussell and FranΓ§ois K. delivered a unique soulful mix of organic and spiritual dance music grooves, and became standard-bearers for New York house music.
On any given Sunday at Body&SOUL, people from all walks of life, all ages, all races, raised their hands in the air and celebrated the unifying force that brought them back week after week: the music.
After Club Vinyl closed in 2002, they party didn’t stop it just became global. Body & SOUL has performed around the U.S., Europe, Asia, and South America.
What once started on a Sunday afternoon 30 years ago has become legacy, a party that bridges generational gaps and transcends decades.
We welcome you to experience the grooves, see you on the dance floor.

People often ask why house music has such a powerful effect on the people who love it. For me, the answer is simple.
People dance to house music because it is a spiritual experience.
When
the music starts, something deep inside wakes up. The steady beat, the
rhythm, and the feeling of moving together with other people create a
sense of connection.
You can feel that you belong. You can hear the
energy in the room.
You can see strangers become a community.
For a few
hours, people stop worrying about who they are supposed to be and simply
become part of something bigger than themselves.
Science helps
explain why this feeling is so powerful.
Music activates parts of the
brain connected to emotion, memory, reward, and social bonding.
When we
experience strong emotions while listening to music, those moments
become linked together in our minds. Later, hearing that same song can
unlock those feelings again, almost like opening a door to the past.
That
is why people like me, who were lucky enough to hear Larry Levan play
at the Paradise Garage, can still lose ourselves when we hear one of
those records today.
The song is not just a song anymore. It is a time
machine.
The moment the track begins, part of us is carried back.
We can almost see the dance floor again. We can hear the crowd. We can
feel the bass moving through our bodies.
The memories return, not as
facts, but as experiences. The joy, the freedom, the friendships, and
the feeling of being fully alive all come rushing back.
That is why going to hear a great house DJ is never a one-time experience. It is an investment in yourself.
DAVID DEPINO, JOEY LLANOS, FRANCOIS K
You
go for one night, but the memory stays with you for the rest of your
life.
Years later, all it takes is hearing the right track and those
feelings can come back. The music becomes a key that unlocks a part of
your own story.
But great music and great DJs are not the only reasons people dance to house music.
Dancing is also one of the healthiest things a person can do.
Researchers
have found that dancing improves balance, flexibility, coordination,
heart health, and mental well-being.
As people get older, loss of leg
strength and poor balance become major causes of falls. Falls are one of
the leading reasons older adults lose their independence and suffer
serious health problems.
Dancing helps keep the legs strong, improves
balance, and keeps the body moving the way it was designed to move.
It
also helps the brain. Studies show that learning and remembering
movement patterns can support memory and cognitive function as we age.
Just
look at Dick Van Dyke. Near the age of one hundred, he is still
dancing, still active, and still working.
While no one lives a long life
because of one thing alone, staying physically active through movement
and dance is strongly linked to better health, greater mobility, and a
higher quality of life as we get older.
The beautiful thing about dancing is that it does so many things at once.
It helps you exercise without feeling like exercise.
It helps you meet people without the pressure of forced conversation.
It helps you create memories while improving your health.
Very few activities can do all three at the same time.
So
if you want to invest in yourself, make memories that will stay with
you forever, strengthen your body, lift your spirit, and give yourself
the best chance to live a longer and better life, go dancing.
